A Model in Practice

Daieplay MakerVillage

The first Askiya Makervillage, Daieplay MakerVillage, is a 300-acre Estate Village in Kplaytuo, Nimba County, Liberia, which means "My Own Home" in the local Gio language.

Daieplay is organized into interdependent quarters, each supporting a part of the economic ecosystem

Cash Crop Farm and Processing Quarter

Focuses on processing indigenous crops like Liberica Coffee and Cocoa into value-added products like seed-to-cup coffee and bean-to-bar chocolate.

Artisan Quarter

Promotes and preserves traditional West African arts and crafts, providing training and employment for local artisans

Guest Quarter

Creates economic opportunity through rural and agri-tourism, promoting the local culture and providing a unique getaway experience.

Daieplay also pioneers innovative financial inclusion tools:

Individual and Community Development Account (IDA): A program allowing participants to invest their "sweat equity" (volunteer labor) in long-term assets such as businesses, homes, and education, with a 4:1 matching contribution on savings
